Goirle Woningen

Project Overview

BIM Modeling for Goirle Woningen Project

For the Goirle Woningen project, the client shared a mix of PDF and CAD drawings but needed something more practical to work with. The idea was to turn those drawings into a proper BIM model that the team could actually use for coordination and planning, not just for reference.

Turning 2D Drawings into a Clear 3D Model

We worked on developing LOD 300 architectural and structural models based on the available drawings. Used Autodesk Revit for this, and the focus was simple: keep the model accurate, clean, and easy to understand without overcomplicating things.

Making Coordination Smoother

Once the model was ready, it helped bring everything together in one place. Instead of going back and forth between drawings, the team could actually see how different elements connect. We also checked coordination using Autodesk Navisworks to catch issues early.

Useful Beyond Just Design

The model wasn’t just for visualisation. It also helped with documentation and gave the team more clarity during execution. Overall, it made the whole process a bit more straightforward and less confusing.

Project Challenges

Absence of Structural Drawings

The client provided limited structural information, requiring the structural model to be developed based on architectural layouts and standard construction practices.

Interdisciplinary Coordination Requirements

Ensuring proper coordination between architectural and structural models was essential to detect clashes and minimize rework.

CAD to BIM Data Conversion Complexity

Converting 2D CAD drawings into parametric BIM elements required careful interpretation and modeling accuracy.

Model Consistency and Quality Control

Ensuring consistent model standards, naming conventions, and data integrity throughout the project was a key challenge.

Dimension Discrepancies in Cellar Floor

Differences between survey points and dimension data required extensive validation and correction to achieve accurate modeling.

LOD 300 Modeling Standards

Maintaining LOD 300 requirements for both architecture and structure added quality control and modeling complexity.
