Bridge Infrastructure

Project Overview

Structural BIM for Bridge Infrastructure

For this bridge infrastructure project, the client needed a highly accurate structural BIM model for the bridge substructure, based on the available 2D drawings. The main requirement was to convert these drawings into something more detailed and reliable for construction use.

From 2D Drawings to Detailed BIM Model

Our team developed a detailed LOD 400 structural BIM model using Autodesk Revit. The focus was on making sure every element was clearly defined, especially when it came to reinforcement detailing and construction-level accuracy.

Built for Real Construction Needs

Rather than just creating a model, we made sure it could actually be used on-site. The final output supported construction-ready documentation and helped improve clarity for the execution team.

Project Challenges

Limited Project Inputs

The project was provided only with 2D structural drawings, without design reports or calculation data, requiring deep technical interpretation of design intent.

Complex Reinforcement Detailing

Dense reinforcement zones in pile caps, columns, and bridge supports demanded highly accurate modeling of bars, stirrups, anchorage, and cover requirements.

Coordination Between Structural Elements

Ensuring proper alignment and coordination between piles, pile caps, columns, and bearing levels was critical to avoid constructability issues.

High Accuracy Requirements

Infrastructure projects require millimeter-level precision, making modeling accuracy and detailing consistency a key challenge throughout the project lifecycle.

Drawing Interpretation Challenges

Translating 2D drawings into a fully coordinated 3D BIM model required careful interpretation of design intent and structural notes.

Time and Delivery Constraints

Strict project timelines required efficient workflows while maintaining high-quality BIM deliverables.
